abstract - 'Beasts not Men'
In this treatise I will prove beyond all reasonable measure of doubt that the so-called 'beastman' is not an enemy of mankind (nor indeed of elf or dwarf), but merely an intelligent breed of ungulate beast that should be regarded as no more of a threat to humanity than the common ox, ass or hog. And yet, because of the arrogant aggression of the so-called 'civilised' races, these naturally gentle creatures have been forced to adopt violence simply in order to survive.
This has long been my view as a bestiologist. And it was for making this argument that I was denounced as 'heretic' and even 'worshipper of the dark gods' by the Grand Theogonist. Narrow-minded but powerful men were threatened by the truth of my words and so cast me out of the Empire of Man. And so, finding myself exiled, I resolved to restore my reputation.
In order to prove my thesis, I travelled alone to the infamous Khatulgridh Pass, wherein I located, observed and studied the Beastherd known as the Ungulati. I have endured much hardship, witnessed extraordinary spectacles, experienced many adventures and faced great dangers while studying their behaviour.
And so, through my endeavours I have amassed the evidence to prove to the Grand Theogonist (and others) that I am no heretic, but rather a respectable natural philosopher and bestiologist, faithful to my university's scientific method. I look forward, not only to being welcomed back to the Empire of Man and celebrated as the great naturalist that I am, but to the ultimate restoration of mutual respect and cooperation between humanity and brayherd.
